VC, PROF. OLATUNJI-BELLO, LEADS LASU DELEGATION TO 7TH ACE IMPACT REGIONAL WORKSHOP IN COTONOU, BENIN REPUBLIC

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, on Tuesday led officials of the University to the Opening Ceremony of the 7th Africa Centre of Excellence (ACE) Impact Regional Workshop holding in Cotonou, Benin Republic. The opening ceremony was held at Palais des Congres, Cotonou, Benin Republic.

The VC was joined on the trip by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Adenike Boyo, Acting Director and Centre Leader, Lagos State University Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education, ACEITSE, Professor Rasheed Sanni, Deputy Centre Leader, Dr. Hakeem Akintoye, Centre Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mrs. Morounkeji Olanrewaju-John.

The 7th ACE Regional Workshop was organised for the 11 countries and 35 institutions in Africa where the 53 Africa Centres of Excellence are domiciled. The aim is to strengthen the capacities of participating universities to deliver high quality training and in applied research as well as meet the demand for skills required for Africa’s development.

The Workshop offered an opportunity to the 11 participating Governments, the Association of African Universities (AAU), and the 53 Centers where the ACE programme is situated to jointly revisit the efficacy and effectiveness of project design and implementation approach and resolve operational bottlenecks.

It also provided a stock taking of project progress, performance, challenges, areas of improvement and recommendations as well as highlighted lessons learned in the first two years of project implementation.
