Arewa Youth Congress Honours Prof. Olatunji-Bello With Arewa National Excellence Award

For the yeoman’s job she is doing as the 9th Substantive Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, accolades have continued to pour in from far and near for Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, with the latest being an Arewa National Excellence Award, conferred on her by the Arewa Youth Congress, from far away northern Nigeria.
The Arewa Youth Congress, which honoured the professor of Physiology with the award in “recognition of her nationalistic leadership disposition, contributions to the progress of Nigeria and providing selfless support for any Arewa person that crosses her path” also decorated her as the Taurarunwan Mattassan Arewa, which means “Light of the North.”
In a related development, the Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy in conjunction with Cruise Point Publishers, Abuja has honoured the VC with an Exemplary Leadership Award in recognition of “her immense and uncommon contributions to overriding public good, efficient cum effective administration as well as her strategic contributions to physiology, theology and education.’
The award was presented to the VC at her office on Monday, 13th May 2024, by a 2-man team from the Body, Mr Daniel Irodinso and Ifeoma Oyibo in the presence of other members of the university management.
The VC, in her responses, expressed appreciation for the honours, which, according to her, “shows that people are watching.” She said, “I wanted to know on what basis you were giving me because I didn’t want any award that would would be used to seek favour or financial gratification. Your response was satisfactory and convincing, and that’s why I am receiving this honour. Thank you for appreciating our good works, “she said to the team from CRPA.
