COMMENCEMENT OF THE LENT SEASON: VICE-CHANCELLOR’S MESSAGE TO CHRISTIAN FAITHFULS

My esteemed colleagues and world-class students,

On behalf of the management and the entire university community, I extend warm greetings to you as we embark on this year’s season of Lent. This is a time of spiritual renewal offering us the opportunity to pause and reflect on our relationship with God, life’s purpose, and values towards spiritual growth.

Beyond this, the Lent period also calls us to reflect on the genuity of service to others and especially to our university and commitment to the fulfilment of its vision as faithful children of God.

During this period, therefore, I urge us to embrace the spirit of self-examination, humility, and service through acts of charity, prayers, or moments of introspection. Let us find ways to enrich our lives and strengthen the bonds that unite us. As an academic community, we are called to promote not only intellectual growth but also compassion, understanding, and empathy in our everyday actions.

I encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ, and indeed, all members of our university community
to use this time for personal renewal and to consider how we, together, can contribute to making our university a better place where kindness and inclusivity thrives and personal dignity is respected.

May this season of Lent bring about profound moments of reflection and positive change in us.

Wishing you a blessed and meaningful Lent. Amen.

We are LASU, We are the Greatest!
