Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU) and a former student of Lagos Anglican Girls’ Grammar School (LAGGS), Surulere, Lagos, Prof (Mrs) Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, will deliver a lecture at the 70th anniversary of LAGGS.

According to a statement issued by the school principal, Mrs Folasade Ogedengbe, in Lagos, on behalf of the school and the old girls, arrangements have been concluded to mark the anniversary and Founders’ Day.

The statement reads, “Celebrating 70 years of impactful existence of an individual, organisation or institution is a remarkable and auspicious moment for stock-taking and projection for future exploits.”

The three-week event with the theme ‘Honouring Our Legacy, Shaping the Future’, she said, will be held from January 10 to 27, 2025. She said: “There will be lots of thrilling moments and mind-blowing activities, which will create opportunities for all to reunite, reconnect, network, relive the past as well as create a platform to meet and chart a greater path for the school.”

The Chairman, Archbishop Abiodun Adetiloye Foundation, Revd (Dr) Olusola Odedeji, and other eminent personalities will preside over the events as well as dedicate facilities during the celebration.

Activities lined up include a Walk and Awareness Rally, Old Girls Homecoming and Tour around the school, unveiling of the Anniversary Logo and an Evening of Praise, Hymns and Psalms within the School’s Chapel.
 
There will also be an inter-house sports competition under the chairmanship of an old girl, Mrs Augustina Makasy (President, LAGGSOGA UK and Ireland Chapter), to be co-hosted by the 1982 Set, among other events.
